Terms of use
The agreement between you and KUUME when you use the KUUME app, this website and KUUME Studio.
1. About these terms
These terms apply when you use the KUUME app, the KUUME website and KUUME Studio (together, “KUUME”). KUUME is provided by [data controller name not configured], [postal address not configured] (“we”, “us”). By using KUUME you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use KUUME. Our privacy notice explains how we handle personal data.
2. What KUUME is
KUUME offers guided sauna rituals: written instructions, timers and, where they have been produced, recorded voice and music that guide you phase by phase. Find lists sauna venues we have checked against their official sources. Private gatherings let you invite people you know to a sauna visit. KUUME Studio lets invited creators make rituals. KUUME is free to use. We may change, add or remove features, and we will try to give notice before removing something important.
3. Who can use KUUME
KUUME is made for adults. You must be 18 or older to use KUUME and to create an account.
4. Your health and safety
KUUME gives general guidance for rest and routine. It is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it does not replace a doctor, a lifeguard or the staff at your venue. Heat, cold water and open water put strain on the body. You decide whether to use a sauna, cold water or open water and for how long, and you remain responsible for following your own judgment, the venue’s rules and any instructions from staff or lifeguards.
Times and recordings in a ritual describe the length of the guidance, never how long you should stay in the heat or in water. Leave the heat or the water whenever you want. Keep your phone on dry land. Read our sauna safety guidance, and talk to a doctor first if you have a health condition, are pregnant or take medicines that affect your heart, blood pressure or alertness.
5. Your account
You can use KUUME without an account. If you create one, give a real email address that you control and keep sign-in links and codes to yourself. You are responsible for activity in your account. You can delete your account at any time; see Delete your account.
6. Using KUUME fairly
Do not use KUUME to break the law or to harm others. In particular, do not:
- try to access another person’s account, data, drafts or private gatherings, or get around security or access limits;
- copy, scrape or overload the service, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows;
- upload or share content you do not have the right to use, or content that is unlawful, hateful, misleading about health or harassing;
- use invitation links to send unwanted messages or to share private gatherings publicly.
7. Rituals and other content
Rituals, recordings, music, illustrations, text and software in KUUME belong to us, to the creators or to our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use KUUME and to play rituals for your own non-commercial use, including downloads for offline use for the period the app allows.
You may not copy, redistribute, sell or publicly perform rituals or recordings, or play them for a group at a paid or public event, unless the creator and we have agreed to it in writing. A downloaded ritual stops working when its offline permission expires or if it is withdrawn.
8. Creating rituals in KUUME Studio
Creator accounts are by invitation. When you upload material or submit a ritual, you confirm that you own it or have all the rights and permissions needed for KUUME to use it as described here, including the consent of every person whose voice you upload and licences for all music, for worldwide and offline use.
You keep ownership of your work. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, technically adapt (for example convert formats, adjust loudness or transcribe for review), distribute and make your published rituals available in KUUME, including as offline downloads, and to show your creator name, biography and ritual artwork in KUUME and when we present KUUME. The licence lasts while a ritual is published, until downloaded copies expire, and for the records we need to show rights and reviews.
We review rituals and files before publishing and may decline, correct or withdraw content that does not meet these terms or our content rules. Publishing creates a new version; people who already downloaded an earlier version keep it until it expires. You can ask us to withdraw a ritual at any time. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, creating rituals is unpaid.
9. Places and private gatherings
Place information comes from the venue’s own website and from open data such as OpenStreetMap. A place we have checked shows when; one we have not says “not yet checked by KUUME”. It can be out of date. Opening hours, prices, access and conditions are the venue’s responsibility, so check with the venue before you go. KUUME does not sell tickets or reserve places. The OpenStreetMap-derived place data is available under the Open Database License (ODbL): ask us at support@kuume.app.
A gathering is a private plan between people you invite. Saying you are going is not a booking. Invitation links work for anyone who has them until they expire, reach their limit or you cancel the gathering, so share them only with people you want to invite. Members of a gathering can see its details, each other’s display names and replies.
10. The letter
Letters from the sauna, our occasional email letter, is separate from your account and is only sent after you confirm your email address. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every letter.
11. Test versions and availability
We work hard to keep KUUME available, but we cannot promise that it will always work without interruption or errors. Test versions distributed through TestFlight or Google Play testing can contain errors, and their data can be reset. We will tell testers before a reset.
12. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or your mandatory rights as a consumer. Within those limits, KUUME is provided free of charge and as it is, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for how you use saunas, cold water, open water or the venues listed in KUUME.
13. Ending your use
You can stop using KUUME and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Where reasonable, we will tell you first and explain why.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when KUUME changes or the law requires it. We will tell you about important changes in the app, on this website or by email before they apply. The date at the top shows the latest version.
15. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Norwegian law. This does not take away mandatory consumer protection in the country where you live. If something goes wrong, please contact us first so we can try to fix it. You can also contact your local consumer authority or bring a claim in the courts where you live.
